Building a tech empire and running a decentralised team is something startup founders are very familiar with, but new challenges have arisen as the industry evolved. Now, managing a team and building a new unicorn is possible, but you need help.

To find out what tech tools can be useful for your journey, we spoke to Jaya Kishore Reddy, who is the Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder at Yellow.ai (formerly known as Yellow Messenger).

A programmer at heart, experienced in rapid prototyping software products, Jaya Kishore has been instrumental in building the technology at Yellow.ai from ground-up. He is very passionate about driving innovation in products and services for superior enterprise automation solutions.

Riccardo Capelvenere, CEO of Currenxie, shares the tools he uses to help run his global business

The platform is trusted across 70+ countries by 1000+ enterprises, including Domino’s, Sephora, Zalora, Zenyum, Food Panda, JD.ID and Mah Sing Group.

The company aims to deliver human-like interactions that boost customer satisfaction and increase employee engagement at scale, through its no-code/low-code bot builders. The company has raised more than $102M from blue-chip investors and has offices across six countries.

Smooth internal communication with Slack (Paid)

Slack has become indisputable – especially in the last 2 years. With WFH becoming a mainstay, Slack has been crucial to team collaboration. I use Slack to communicate, plan and solve problems proactively with my team. We regularly also do audio huddles on-the-go to break away from the monotony of virtual meetings!

I use Slack to communicate with my team in the office and while on-the-go, it’s where my team can reach out to me whenever they need me for our ongoing projects and work matters.

Zoom to help global collaboration (Paid and free)

Although the world is exploring hybrid work environments, virtual working will still continue to occupy a significant portion in that model.

Zoom made it easier for us to come together as a team and business- and really collaborate in these trying times. Especially during product sprints, we used it actively for project management, strategy and review sessions.

As we have offices in different countries, Zoom made it easy for us to schedule meetings, keep track of multiple time zones and have face-to-face interactions as much as possible.

On the flip side, Zoom was used actively for team building activities too. It’s super easy to use, provides a seamless experience, and is compatible with most of the applications we use.

Speed up your research and analysis with Yellow.ai Insights Engine (Paid)

We have all faced the issue of skimming through hundreds of pages in a document or PDF to find just what we are looking for, be it HR policy documents or research reports. Yellow.ai Insights Engine uses document cognition to make this happen in a jiffy!

I have used it to get the right answers to my questions when I need them, without having to scavenge through heaps of unstructured data. Insights Engine is a complete, managed service, so there are no servers to provision, and no machine learning models to build, train, or deploy.

Insights Engine returns an exact answer from within a document, whether that is a text snippet, FAQ, or PDF document. Instead of sifting through long lists of documents to find specific answers, Insights Engine also provides suggested answers upfront. What’s more, I have used it to generate Q&As from a document or even curate auto-generated FAQs

Notion for planning and tracking (Paid)

Yellow.ai is building the next generation of conversational AI and aims to revolutionise the TX journey. And that involves plenty of project planning, brainstorms, product road mapping- and so much more! I use Notion to plan, organise and track all of our team’s work. I feel project management is so much easier when I’m able to view the progress and status of our team’s work all in one place and receive real-time updates from the team on the status of our ongoing projects. As a business, we rely heavily on data to drive decisions, and Notion provides us an easy way to organize a huge collection of data into a centralized information system.

Keeping it on the cloud with G-Suite / Google Workspace (Paid and free)

Google Workspace has been indispensable for me, thanks to the myriad of tools it offers. It allows me and my team to work collaboratively as well, as we’re able to track and see changes made by members at all times while we’re working on the same documents. We’re also able to hop on calls and meetings easily to discuss the projects, making work that much easier and even more collaborative.

As it gives the organisation more control and more features, it enables our team to leverage the advanced features to work faster and be better informed. As a CTO, you have to keep an eye on the macro and the micro – Google’s tools capture all the minute information, so that I am always on track.
