As we delve into this interview with Norlisa, we explore the inspiration behind Certiify Solutions, the broader implications of forged certifications on society and the economy, and the challenges and opportunities of blockchain technology adoption in Malaysia.

What inspired you to establish Certiify Solutions Sdn Bhd, and how does Certiify aim to address the issue of fake degrees in Malaysia?

The inception of Certiify Solutions Sdn. Bhd. stemmed from a pivotal conversation with a training provider. During our discussion, she inquired about software solutions for certificate management, highlighting the inefficiencies plaguing their current process. The gravity of the situation became apparent as she described the chaotic nature of their certification procedures, often resulting in delays and the risk of counterfeit certificates.ย

We are addressing issues such as delayed verifications, the risk of counterfeit certificates slipping through undetected, and the dire consequences that could arise, including scenarios where lives may be endangered due to forged credentials. This served as a wake-up call, compelling us to confront this issue directly.

At Certiify, our primary objective is to address these challenges head-on by streamlining certificate management processes and fortifying the integrity of certifications. Our focus extends beyond mere efficiency; it encompasses the fundamental principles of integrity and safety.

We aim to provide a reliable platform that safeguards the authenticity of certifications, ensuring their true value is upheld in every instance.

Could you explain how Certiify works and how it can be an innovative solution tailored for universities and companies in Malaysia?

Certiify Manager streamlines certificate management for producers by securely anchoring certificates on the blockchain, eliminating concerns about storage, tampering, or staff turnover. Once on the blockchain, certificates remain immutable, sparing organisations the hassle of manual verifications and re-issuances. Our dashboard and real-time data visualisation features empower users with actionable insights for informed decision-making.

Certiify Viewer is another solution on our platform that revolutionises certificate verification, ensuring swift validation in just half a second, minimising missed opportunities, and mitigating risks. Whether you’re an employer, institution, or anyone needing to verify credentials, our built-in QR technology simplifies the process. Within a single second, you can authenticate a certificate’s validity effortlessly.

On top of that, Certiify Wallet, another tool on our platform, provides individuals with the tools to securely manage their certificates conveniently. By keeping all your credentials easily accessible, you can ensure you’re always prepared and never overlook opportunities. With Certiify Wallet, you can trust that your certificates are safely stored and readily available for any situation.

Our system extends beyond human and educational certifications, encompassing tools and equipment certifications with time-limited validity. Our proactive dashboard alerts users of any expired certifications, averting non-compliance issues during audits, thereby saving companies valuable time, resources, and potential consultant fees.

How do you see the broader implications of forged certifications on society and the economy, including the risks posed to employers and the potential financial losses incurred?

The repercussions of forged certifications extend far beyond mere paperwork. They strike at the heart of trust and integrity, corroding the very fabric of our professional landscape. Employers face not only financial risks but also the erosion of their credibility and the safety of their workplaces. Ensuring the authenticity of certifications is crucial to upholding ethical standards and maintaining a level playing field for all professionals. It is imperative for organisations to implement robust verification processes to safeguard against the damaging effects of fraudulent credentials.

In addressing this issue, we must embrace wisdom and foresight, recognizing that the integrity of our certifications is the cornerstone of a prosperous and equitable society. By prioritising transparency and accountability in credential verification, employers can protect their reputations and ensure a competent workforce. This proactive approach can also prevent potential legal liabilities and maintain trust within the industry.

By staying vigilant and adapting to the evolving landscape of credential verification, we can uphold the value of our certifications, safeguard against fraud, and ensure that the pathways to success remain open to all who earn them through hard work and dedication. Embracing innovation and technology in this process will further strengthen the credibility of our certifications and promote a fair and competitive job market.

Can you discuss the challenges of blockchain technology adoption in Malaysia, such as staff training and high implementation costs?

Indeed, the challenges of blockchain technology adoption in Malaysia are multifaceted. Firstly, staff training poses a significant hurdle. Blockchain technology requires a solid understanding of its intricacies and applications, which may necessitate comprehensive training programmes for employees. Ensuring that personnel across different levels grasp the nuances of blockchain technology is essential for successful integration into existing business processes. However, our strategy prioritises agility, allowing us to effectively handle numerous projects simultaneously despite the limited availability of resources.

Another significant obstacle to blockchain technology adoption in Malaysia is the high turnover rate, exacerbated by enticing offers elsewhere. The allure of competitive offers from other industries or sectors can lead to a drain of skilled personnel, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of blockchain technology. This turnover not only disrupts workflow continuity but also hampers the accumulation of institutional knowledge crucial for the successful implementation and optimization of blockchain solutions.

Furthermore, high implementation costs become particularly burdensome when unsuitable technology is applied to inappropriate use cases. Hence, meticulous evaluation and assessment are imperative to guarantee the most efficient allocation of resources.

How does Certiify leverage blockchain technology to combat the issue of fake degrees and restore trust in the certification process?

At Certiify Solutions, our dedication to combating the prevalence of fake degrees and restoring faith in the certification process is unwavering. Through the implementation of blockchain technology, we not only secure documents but also “blockchain” the individuals involved in their creation and authorization. This ensures an immutable and transparent ledger of certifications, effectively preventing fraudulent activities from slipping through the cracks.

Our innovative approach not only safeguards the integrity of certifications but also assists issuing organizations in tracking down any unlawfully issued certificates. In the event of legal proceedings due to the issuance of illegal certificates, organizations can swiftly identify the responsible individuals, shifting the burden of liability from the organization to the individual. Each certificate holds at least two accountable officers, ensuring accountability and transparency at every step.

As we move forward, we are excited to expand the integration of blockchain technology within our processes, particularly with an upcoming patent on the horizon. Stay tuned for further developments as we continue our journey to elevate transparency and credibility in certification processes.
