Southeast Asiaโs startup conversation tends to orbit a few familiar centres of gravity. Singapore for fintech and enterprise tech. Indonesia for consumer internet and logistics. Thailand, despite being one of the regionโs largest economies and home to a substantial industrial base, rarely gets the same sustained attention from the international startup press.
That may be changing at the moment. We take a look at Thailandโs AI scene in particular, which has been producing companies that are less interested in building for hype cycles and more focused on solving concrete problems for hotels, factories, architecture firms, farms and sales teams. The countryโs AI market is growing at around 30% annually and is projected to reach 50 billion baht in 2026, yet the share captured by Thai AI operators remains small relative to the opportunity.ย
The companies emerging from that gap are not trying to compete with OpenAI. They are trying to make AI work for a Thai hotel manager, a food quality inspector or a B2B sales team running on spreadsheets, which is a different and arguably more durable ambition. Here are five worth paying attention to.
Spacely AI: turning floor plans into photorealistic renders in seconds
The architecture and interior design workflow has not changed much in decades. A client requests a design. The firm produces drawings. Somewhere in the middle, someone spends hours creating visualisations that may or may not reflect what the finished space will look like. Spacely AI was built to compress that process.
The Bangkok-based startupโs cloud platform lets architects and interior designers render lifelike visuals, stage spaces virtually and convert 2D floor plans into fully modelled 3D scenes, with the whole process taking minutes rather than hours or days. The platform is integrated with SketchUp and is expanding to additional CAD tools so professionals can work within software they already use rather than switching contexts.
In July 2025, Spacely AI raised US$1 million in seed funding led by PropTech Farm Fund III, following a pre-seed investment from SCB 10X. Over the past year, Spacely AI has grown revenue 10 times, served more than 1,500 architecture and interior design firms in 50 countries and produced over two million unique renders. The seed proceeds are going towards a next-generation 2D-to-3D automation engine designed to remove up to 80% of manual concept work, alongside a push into the US market. For a Bangkok-based SaaS company, that kind of international customer base at this stage is a meaningful signal.
MUI Robotics: digitising smell and taste for the food and agriculture industries
Most AI applications are built on data that is already digital: text, images, numbers. MUI Robotics is working on the layer of sensory experience that has never been digitised at scale: smell and taste. Founded in Thailand and originally emerging from research at Mahidol University, MUI Robotics has developed an AI-Nose platform that mimics the human olfactory system to detect and analyse odours with precision.
After collecting food-related sensory data for more than five years, MUI has accumulated around 200 million data points and aims to scale this to hundreds of billions to build what it believes could become the worldโs strongest smell-and-taste database. The company is focusing its commercialisation strategy on the food industry, one of Thailandโs largest economic sectors, where sensory AI can shorten product development cycles by shifting experimentation from physical testing into virtual taste simulation.
MUI Robotics already leads the Thai sensory AI sector and is expanding with Singapore as a regional hub, targeting the USD 35 billion Asia-Pacific sensory technology market. It turned profitable within its first year and has built a client base of over 600 enterprises. Applications range from quality control in food manufacturing and pharmaceuticals to odour pollution monitoring in industrial factories, a diverse enough use case map to suggest the technology is not solving a single niche problem.
iApp Technology: building Thai-language AI that actually understands Thai
The dominant AI models in global circulation were built primarily on English-language data. For markets like Thailand, where the language has its own script, tonal structure and no word spacing in written form, those models handle Thai as an afterthought rather than a primary use case. iApp Technology has spent years building a locally focused alternative.
The company offers enterprise-grade AI APIs for the Thai language, covering large language models, eKYC, OCR, speech recognition and natural language processing and is trusted by over 100 companies with more than 50 million API calls processed. Its Chinda LLM, built on the Qwen3 architecture with 4 billion parameters, is designed specifically for Thai language understanding and generation, achieving 37% better overall performance than the nearest alternative Thai language model in benchmark testing.
The sovereign AI angle is worth taking seriously. A country whose businesses depend entirely on foreign-built AI models for language-sensitive tasks, including legal document processing, customer service and government form handling, is structurally exposed if those models change, restrict access or fail to reflect Thai linguistic and regulatory specifics. iAppโs work on Thai-native models is not just a commercial opportunity. AltoTech Global: making buildings smarter about the energy they use
Energy costs are one of the most persistent operational pressures in Thailandโs hospitality and manufacturing sectors. Air conditioning alone accounts for 60 to 70% of a hotelโs electricity consumption and hotels make up a substantial share of Thailandโs electricity bill overall. AltoTech Global was built around the premise that most of that consumption is unnecessarily high because the systems controlling it are not intelligent enough.

What makes AltoTech interesting beyond the sustainability narrative is the enterprise model. Building operators are under growing pressure to produce auditable energy and emissions data for ESG reporting. A platform that simultaneously reduces energy costs and generates the performance data required for compliance reporting is solving two problems with one system, which is a more durable commercial proposition than energy savings alone.
Wisible: helping Thai B2B sales teams see around corners
Most B2B sales operations in Thailand still run on a combination of spreadsheets, LINE messages and instinct. Wisible was founded on the straightforward observation that the data needed to make better sales decisions already exists inside most businesses. The problem is that nobody has structured it into something actionable.
Founded in 2018 by Saroj Ativitavas, Wisible is a Bangkok-based sales intelligence and CRM platform that raised a US$900,000 seed round to develop algorithms that analyse historical transaction data to flag accounts that have gone quiet or are at risk of churning. The platform covers sales pipeline management, lead capture, inventory and payment tracking and real-time analytics, with AI surfacing early warning signals when major customers show signs of reducing orders or switching to competitors. For a sales manager overseeing a team across multiple accounts, that kind of proactive churn signal is the difference between addressing a problem and finding out about it too late.
Wisible is trusted by more than 400 enterprise customers across manufacturing, IT, automotive and other sectors, with the platform built to support the Thai language and Thai market-specific business behaviour in ways that global CRM tools are not designed to accommodate. The company is also eligible for Thailandโs 200% tax deduction for software procurement, which compresses the cost barrier for SMEs considering adoption.
Can product focus become a genuine startup advantage?
These five companies are not relying on a vague promise of becoming the next unicorn. Each has started with a clearly defined professional problem. They are trying to be the most useful tool in a specific professionalโs day, whether that is an architect generating client visuals or a hotel operator trying to cut next monthโs electricity bill. That product clarity is both their current strength and the question mark over their long-term trajectory.
Southeast Asian investors still tend to reward scale over depth and most of these companies will eventually face the question of whether their Thailand-specific insight translates into a regional or global product. iAppโs language infrastructure, AltoTechโs energy optimisation platform and Spacely AIโs international customer base all suggest paths to that kind of expansion. That question also connects to a wider regional challenge: Southeast Asia must build the infrastructure, talent and governance needed to turn AI adoption into lasting commercial value.
